Sun Quan built Xiakou City “and erected this tower on the rocky beach at its southwestern corner.” It is Sun who named the edifice “Yellow Crane Tower.”

The 1st Year (AD 222) of Eastern Wu’s Huangwu Period

The 2nd Year (AD 223) of Eastern Wu’s Huangwu Period: After the Campaign at Red Cliff, Sun Quan took held of Jingzhou and moved his capital from Jianye (present-day Nanjing) to E (modern-day Ezhou). The ruler even titled himself the King of Wu and renamed Wuchang Prefecture“Jiangxia” governing 6 counties like Shaxian. By this time, the Yellow Crane Mountain had become a major military base for Eastern Wu.
